There is one photo dated 1883 that has Md Sharif bin Ismail in a group photo. The photo was taken at a meeting of imam and Haji-haji at Masjid Rawa, Java Street in Kuala Lumpur.
In this photo, he was with his youngest brother, Zainal Abidin bin Ismail Alyamani. They were seated at 2nd and 3rd from the right. Both were dressed similar and had a tongkat.
Md Sharif was a smoker and had a cigarette in his left hand. His empty cigarette packs were the ones my eldest brother and I saw in the attic at Rumah Banda Hilir in the early 1960s.
The photo is too small to properly extract his portrait.
