DETAILS OF HJ MOHD SHARIF'S PROPERTY
IN BANDAR HILIR, MALACCA 1897-c1912
Will of 1 March 1906
====================================
The properties mentioned in the Will include the following:
- No. 76 and 77 Banda Hilir
- Banda Hilir No. 111
- Banda Hilir brick house No. 113
These buildings are still extant on 18 September 2017. I checked their locations using Google Maps. All 4 properties are along Jalan Parameswara, between Masjid Banda Hilir and before reaching Padang Banda Hilir. The house/shop # remains the same but the road is now Jalan Parameswara instead of Jalan Banda Hilir. They are in Taman Melaka Raya area.

No. 76 Banda Hilir -- is near Bites in Banda Hilir. It is in a 4-unit double-storey shophouse complex (near Masjid Banda Hilir 80, 78, 76, and 74 near Padang Banda Hilir). It is next to No 78, Persatuan Leong Kawasan Selatan. It is the second shop from the right. The last shop on the right is No. 74. No. 76 has blue frames for its doors and windows. The walls are light cream. It has one brown window upstairs.

PROPERTY #2
No. 77 BANDA HILIR
No. 77 Banda Hilir -- is across the road from No. 76 Banda Hilir. The shophouses here vary in shape and size - No. 71 vs No. 73 & 75 vs No. 77 vs No. 79, 81, 83. No. 77 Banda Hilir is a single double-storey brick shophouse with colourful art decor dated 1927 at the roof top (frieze). It was probably sold after Hj Mohd Sharif died (between 1906-1912) and was then renovated or restored in 1927. It is now occupied by a sportshop - Syarikat Perniagaan Engraving Melaka (Engraving & Trading (Melaka) Sdn Bhd), which has a blue signboard. There is parking space in front of the shop.

WITNESSES OF HJ MOHD SHARIF'S WILL
BANDAR HILIR, MALACCA
Will of 1 March 1906
====================================
There were 2 witnesses for the Will:**
- Zainal bin Omar Sidang
- Omar bin Saleh Bilal
**The last word after the name indicates the post held, eg Tok Sidang, Tok Bilal. They were men from the mosque, but it doesn't specify which mosque. Could most probably be from Masjid Banda Hilir, unless he had reason to use people from Masjid Semabok, where he & wife are buried.
The first witness, Zainal bin Omar, is the younger man (probably an adult son) and Omar bin Saleh is the second witness, an elder man (probably father of the first witness). So the 2 witnesses were father-and-son who worked for the masjid, one was a Sidang and the other was a Bilal. Who and where are they or their descendants today?
