Call name: Bapak called his brother Abang Bakar. I called him Pak Bakau.
Relationship: He was Bapak's eldest brother, and the eldest boy in the family.

Pak Bakau held odd jobs and spoke good English. He often spoke to Mak. He married a Singaporean Malay lady and had 2 kids (a boy and a girl). They lived in Singapore.

I remember his family visited us when we lived at Jalan Day, Alor Star in Kedah. Later, he divorced Mak Cik, and the family returned to Singapore. I don't recall whether he remarried or married someone else.

He returned to Singapore, died in Singapore and is buried in Singapore. His siblings attended his funeral in Singapore.

Full name: Ramlah bt Haji Mohd Yusope
Call name: Bapak called her Che Lah. I called her Mak Lah. Her son Abang Muin referred to her as Mak Melah.
Relationship: She was Bapak's 5th elder sister. She was Abang Muin's mother.
Born: 1927
Deceased: 26 October 2001
Burial: She is interred along with her husband at Tanah Perkuburan Masjid Semabok.

Call name: I called him Pak Ji Usop.
Occupation: Teacher/Headmaster and Imam Masjid Semabok
Deceased: 24 September 1987

Mak Lah was a full-time housewife. She was a petite woman and soft spoken. She never scolded anyone when we visited her.

She blinked too frequent, like there had always been dust in her eyes.

She always cooked for us and I enjoyed eating at her house when we visited her family in Semabok, Malacca, during school holidays.

Her house is still extant near Masjid Semabok where her husband had served as Imam Masjid Semabok. Her daughter Salmah lives in the proximity of Mak Lah's house - Kak Salmah lived behind Mak Lah's house.

Update 21 Dec 2014 (from Kamariah isteri Farid):
Kak Bibah's house is beside her parent's house.

Mak Lah's husband was a famous man. Even Malay folks living in Perth in Western Australia in 1989 knew him as their Qadhi. Her husband is Cikgu/Imam Haji Mohd Yusuf bin Buntal of Semabok.

Mak Lah suffered a stroke  and was warded at Hospital Melaka. She passed away on 26 October 2001, aged 74.

My story:

I had known Mak Nya in Malacca and before I went to school in Alor Star, Kedah. Mak Nya was a full-time housewife. 

She was good with handicrafts and made beautiful Malay wedding preparations herself. I had helped her to make small yellow raffia baskets for hard boiled eggs, when we visited her during school holidays. 

She worked very fast and screamed if you did house chores wrongly. She kept her entire house clean - kitchen, bedroom, living room, toilet, etc. She was very strict. She always said "Kan aku dah cakap?!" and then her screaming began. She often got angry with her kids easily and would hit them and her kids would cry. Her kids were scared stiff of her. I have never seen a mother so angry at her own kids. 

But she was still a nice aunt to me. She always teased me and then she would smile or laugh. She was very kind to me. One day when she heard I was going overseas, she quickly came to see me late at night and brought durians from her hill home orchard in Gombak. She grew the best "durian Gombak" I have ever tasted. 

The last I heard of her, she had collapsed while visiting Malacca. She subsequently died of hypertension (HPT)! I missed her because she taught me how to clean house and keep it spic clean. Nobody taught me how to clean house the way she did - very clean and hygienic. 

I remember in 1963, Bapak bought a B/W TV for her family to watch the agricultural programs. One of Pak Rashid's sons was involved in the program.

When I was attending Kolej Tunku Kurshiah in Seremban (1974-75), Bapak took a few photos of Mak Nya and her family at her Gombak house. At the time, Nenek Inche was living with Mak Nya, and so some photos had both Mak Nya and Nenek Inche. I remember Nenek Inche said (something to this effect), "Aku tak nak ambik gambau. Aku tau bila ambik gambau, tanda aku nak mati..." I think it is true, that people take a lot of photos of you before you die, and in case you die. Nenek Inche later passed away of diabetic complications at Mak Nya's house circa 1978.

I know roughly where she stays, on the small link road between Solok Pemancar and Brown Garden. Siapa tau tolong bagi tau. I need her photo for my family blog. I will try and meet her one day, in sya Allah.

Affandi and I visited Siti Aishah and family at their home in Panji, near JPS Kelantan on Saturday, 11 January 2014. Her house is OTW to the airport.

We discussed about our relatives in Jelutong and other places. Sheikh Abdul Halim knows many of the elderly relatives in Penang. He doesn't know arwah Prof. Syed Mohsin Syed Sahil Jamalullail and family. He knows Syed Mohamad bin Syed Omar, anak Fatmah Aziz Alyamani. He knows all 4 of Ami Aziz's children - Fatma, Latif, Rashid and Zakaria. Fatma and Zakaria passed away. One of the men is in his 70s and unmarried. He mentioned a few names whom I don't know at all - Fuad.

According to them, Umi Sehka is adopted. She is a Chinese? Her daughter Faten is married to Prof Wan Fauzy Wan Ismail (PTPM), the younger brother of Datin Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, wife of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PKR).
