From: http://urusanulamakpasjasin.blogspot.my/2012/11/tokoh-ulama-melaka-syeikh-abdul-lathif.htmlAsal-usul nenek moyangnya dikatakan berasal dari India. Walaupun dilahirkan di Melaka, usia kecilnya banyak dihabiskan di Singapura. [Haji Tambi lived and traded in Singapore. The family lived mainly in Singapore.]
Dikatakan bahawa selain mengajar, beliau turut mengusahakan perniagaan kain seperti ayahandanya. [Haji Tambi @ Haji Nuruddin bin Haji Muhammad Salleh, was a cloth merchant in Singapore.]
Kitab-kitab tersebut adalah seperti berikut, (the following are publications of Haji Abdul Lathif Tambi)
- Qiblah Dalail al-Hairan fi Jawazi Hadmi Masjid as-Sulthan – Judul ini diketahui melalui karya beliau berjudul Tazkiratus Sunnatil Basyar bi Ahkami Itsna `Asyar (Rangkapan).
