Abdul Rashid bin Mohd Yusope 1931-2009 (6) GES, Jasin 1953-1955

Bapak returned to Banda Hilir from Kirkby, His father passed away.

Bapak registered for work and started teaching at the Government English School (GES) at Jasin, Malacca.

I have not been to the school but I saw the school buildings from a distance when I was a small girl (about ages 3-5). It had many Indian schoolchildren. There are photos taken of the classes and inside the classroom.

Bapak, Mak, Abang Sharif, and Kakak Sharifah (Pah) lived in a small brick bungalow for teachers.

I visited the bungalow once a month when we lived in Malacca. I still remember the layout of the bungalow. It had 2 bedrooms, 1 large living-room, a small kitchen and separate bath and WC, and a place to dry clothes.

There is a photo of us (the kds) playing outside in the front yard, some climbing the big tree in front of the bungalow.

There was a tiny lane that led from the bungalow down to the rubber trees at left, which turned right and went to the school. The school was on a hilltop.
