We were staying at 262 Banda Hilir. Bapak went to Kirkby a few times. Bapak packed his luggage in the anjung and Rabi cried.

Bapak left home and returned to Kirkby, England for a refresher course. Bapak was in Kirkby till 31 August 1962. He was there before Kirkby College closed for good in December 1962.

While there, Bapak met with his uncle Jamaluddin bin Hj Ali and a colleague, Ahmad bin Dahan at Tok Jamaluddin's flat. He sent a B/W photo of them to us at home in Banda Hilir - dated 17 March 1962.

Ahmad bin Dahan married to Che Som bt Mashohor (parents of Zanariah bt Ahmad, Form 5S, TKC 1975). Che Som is related to Mak.

While there, Bapak wrote a picture postcard (ppc) home to his daughters (Pah, myself and Rabi) - dated 13 April 1962.

Kirkby: Lord Mayor's dinner

Several functions have been planned to mark the closing of the Malayan Teachers' Training College at Kirkby at the end of this year.

A British High Commission statement said today that there would be a civic dinner tomorrow given by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Liverpool at the Town Hall.

The Malayan High Commissioner in London, Tengku Ya'acob, and his wife, Tengku Maimunah, and the Malayan Minister of Education, Capt. Haji Abdul Hamid Khan will attend.
