Meanings:
Meaning of annexed: added, tambah
Meaning of ceded: yield, beri, dipisahkan


British Malaya
  • 1790: Kedah ceded Penang to BEIC (this is on British records, but is a wrong fact)
  •           Penang was stolen from Sultan Kedah (this is what the Malay populace hold true)
  •           Francis Light cheated Sultan Kedah
  •           There was no paper document signed to give away Penang to Francis Light
  •           Sultan Kedah never gave Penang (island) to Francis Light
  • 1824: Holland ceded Malacca to BEIC
  •           Dutch Malacca became British Malacca
  • 2 August 1824: Singapore became a British Colony
  • 1826: The SS was established under the control of the BEIC
  • 1 April 1867: The SS became a Crown Colony
  • 1895: FMS = Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak and Selangor
  •           UnFMS = Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis and Terengganu
  • 30 October 1906: Labuan joined the SS
  • 1 April 1946: FMS, UnFMS, Malacca and Penang formed the Malayan Union
  • 1 April 1946: Labuan annexed to Singapore, and became the Crown Colony of Singapore
  • 31 January 1948: Reformed as the FoM
  •                             The Malay States became British Protectorates
  •                             Malacca and Penang remained British Colonies
  • 31 August 1957: The FoM granted independence within the British Commonwealth
  • 3 June 1959: Singapore granted self-governance
  • August 1963: Singapore declared independence
  • 16 September 1963: FoM, Singapore, British North Borneo (Sabah) and Sarawak merged to form Malaysia
  • 9 August 1965: Singapore expelled from Malaysia (Singapore wanted its own rule)
  • 1 February 1974: KL FT ceded from Selangor
  • 16 April 1984: Labuan FT ceded from Sabah
  • 1 February 2001: Putrajaya FT ceded from Selangor

British Borneo:
  • 1841: Brunei ceded Sarawak to the White Rajah Dynasty of Sarawak
  • 1846: Brunei ceded Labuan to Britain
  • 1848: Labuan became a Crown Colony
  • 1882: Sabah governed by British North Borneo Company
  • 1888: Sabah became British North Borneo protectorate
  • 1 January 1890: Labuan annexed to North Borneo
  • 30 October 1906: Labuan joined the SS
  • 1 April 1946: Labuan annexed to Singapore, which became the Crown Colony of Singapore
  • 1 July 1946: The Rajah ceded Sarawak to the British Crown
  • 15 July 1946: Labuan annexed to North Borneo, which became the Crown Colony of British North Borneo
  • 3 June 1959: Singapore granted self-governance
  • 22 July 1963: Sarawak granted independence
  • 31 August 1963: British North Borneo granted self-governance
